Top Five – Weight Loss Tools

Some of my favorite tools that help me lose weight

1.My scale!

I just got a new one and I love that it does odd decimals vs only .2, .4, .6 etc. Found it on amazon and got it for Christmas, it’s a WW scale and feels much sturdier than my last $10 Walgreens scale.

Now – truly you should only be weighing in once per week.

2. My food scale

I use my food scale for SO MANY things (including weighing packages LOL!) I measure my cereal, pieces of meat, cheese, etc. All the things! It’s helpful and has really shown me just how HEAVY HANDED I am when it comes to serving “portions”.

3. Flexi measuring tape

I actually love this more than the scale. I try to measure myself once a month to see what’s changed in my body. Often my jeans or shirts (or even underwear!) tell me that things are changing, but it’s nice to have a number to go with.

4. A good blender

While I’m not currently on the smoothie train (which I really should be, I do so much better when I am), I love my blender and making smoothies. I’ve started experimenting with flax seed, chia seed, and protein powder and it’s been a fun process. I do love my smoothies.

5. Step Tracking Device

I have gone on and on about my love for my fitbit.. (here Fitbit & Step Goals | (sixelaland.com), AND here RIP Rest In Peace Fitbit One | (sixelaland.com)) and I intend to do a little more here… having a fitbit for the last five years has really helped me figure out when I’m being lazy and not moving enough.

In 2015 when I got the fitbit, I started moving 8,000 steps and worked my way up to regularly doing 12-14,000 steps every single day. And then one day I just stopped moving. I got lazy. I sat more. And my steps dropped into the 6-8,000 range. THEN.. I got even lazier… and I wasn’t even hitting 4,000 step some days. It was then I realized what I was doing to myself.. not moving, gaining over 90 pounds in 2 years from losing over 90 pounds. I knew there had to be a change.. and seeing my numbers helped me immensely.

Fitbit, Garmin, Apple Watch, Amazon Knock off, whatever, if it’s tracking your steps, it’s going to help you see your movement and where there could be improvement.

There you have it… my top five helpful weight loss tools.
