RIP Fitbit One

In 2015, I got a Fitbit One.

Fitbit One

The Fitbit One is used with a clip, that I clip into my bra. I don’t love things on my wrist, so this was perfect for me. And no one knew I had it unless I told them. Not that I cared, I was happy to share that I was a Fitbit person.

I’ve been using that Fitbit from 2015 up until today. Everyday.

It’s been amazing for over five years. The last 2 to 3 weeks, it started having battery issues and the button started to stick and run through the options until I plugged it into the charger to reset it.

This was heartbreaking for me. Mostly because, I’ve managed to keep it working for over five years. AND. Fitbit discontinued that model recently. Amazon was selling used/refurbished Fitbit Ones for $200. They were $99 originally and I can’t justify buying a used version for double the original price.

Sad me.

I contacted Fitbit and I figured, after five years, there wouldn’t be anything they would help with, I was right. The warranty is only good for one year.

They did offer me 25% off on something from their website directly. Which I thought was nice, and it allowed me to get a replacement for only $53. I’m on a budget and I needed something price friendly.

I went with the Fitbit Inspire. It is a cheaper version of the trackers they offer, it is swimproof, which is nice now that we have a pool, I can track my activity while I’m in the pool. The One was NOT waterproof at all. This one I can swim or shower with!

My One used to hold the battery for two weeks, lately, I’m lucky to get a day out of it. The Inspire indicates a battery life of up to five days, which is a little disappointing, but I typically charge every other day anyway so we should be good.

Another reason I picked the Inspire, was because it has a clip similar to the One that I can clip back in my bra.

I don’t love the bracelet thing, I’m trying it for a couple days, but will probably go back to having the clip in a couple days. That was a major selling point. I like being able to have it hidden and not on my wrist.

So, rest in peace my beloved Fitbit One. I’m sad to see you go, all the good times we’ve had, all the steps we’ve counted together. It’s a sad day in Sixelaland.

And to the new Inspire, I hope you can last as long as your predecessor.

A good thing, the switch on my Fitbit app was seamless, once I got the new one charged up and the new software downloaded, it synced with my current steps, I was able to change the face of the “clock” easily. And removed my old One from the app.
